HI -- can't find detailed answers to any of this anywhere (and not necessarily expecting them here, but here goes ;-)

1. what (any?) support for other languages are in the pipeline? My particular interest would be French/, but...

2. if you can answer (1) out of NDA, then will non-Latin languages also be supported ?

I'm in particular interested in Chinese and Arabic...

thx

I\'m not sure I agree here but I am interested to see what others have to say.

Why don't you open the framework? Can we create a community to help you?

Is there a target date for a German release?

Some Posts above there was a date pointing to Q1 09 but that's just the past

I hope it will be finalised this year

it'll be a great point

Hello, I just discovered Calais and I'm amazed by the posibilities. I think the most important question in this thread was asked by the member asking for Hebrew support. He said: "is there something I can do to help it happen soon?"

I would like to double that to - not for Hebrew but for letting the community help expand the langauges supported by Calais. Have you ever think about that? How can the users help Calais expand in the "long tail" of languages other than 2-3 major ones?

Thank you.

Darrell,

It's always nice to be able to say Yes..
Additional languages are in the roadmap. We will be rolling out few languages in Q4, and then some more in Q1 '09. It is very likely that French will be one of them - but it's not final.
We will support also non-Latin languages (at least one in these releases), but I can't tell whether it's Chinese, Arabic or something else.

Stay tuned!

Michal

Hello Michal,

Are there any plans of supporting hebrew?
If not - is there something I can do to help it happen soon?

Thanks!

(oh, and BTW, which Drupal theme is it that you use on your website?)

Is german on the roadmap for Q4 08 or Q1 09?

German is planned for later in 2009, we don't have the exact timeline yet, but it won't be part of the Q4 08 release. Sorry..

Sorry to bumb into this discussion like that!

I would higly recommend to put german at importance rank no.1 besides english!
Check the google story!
Their first supported language besides englisch is german, one of therere reason is, that they have many german software engineers!

The other reason why you should care is:
The best variety and quality of news besides englisch is german, a big number of high quality newspaper.
I could give you list of hundres websites, i.e. financial websites

You will get a large german community, twice as big as french, spanish or italien in shorter time.

Cheers
Patrick

Probably some time in 2009 but the plan hasn't been finalized yet.
We will communicate the roadmap for language support later this year.

Grazie :)

Hi,

I am following Calais' progress for my company. Our content is 100% in French. So even if Calais is a city in north of France, it seems French is not supported.

I remember a post earlier this year saying French would be supported during summer and now in this post fall to winter.

Bottom line : we do not have a clear vision.

So could you please have a roadmap page that would inform us of where you go with "probably" or "target date" attached to the dates if you need it. I am not asking for you to anticipate dates but to let us know what you are working on.

Thank you

Hey - any update on languages? Still reasonable to expect even one more (don't really care too much about which, "any" additional is interesting) in 2009?

thanks!

one more at the end of 2008.
and then more in 2009.
that's the plan.

Anything lined up for Q1 of 2009, german maybe?
