The Powerhouse Museum is using Calais to automatically generate tags for items in their extensive collection. For a quick example take a look at this description of a surveying instrument. The tags generated by Calais are allowing curators and others to find previously invisible connections within their collections.

WordPress Calais Auto Tagger and Archive Tagger - Dan Grossman has developed a very nice WordPress plugin that automatically tags posts as you write them, and another that does the same for your archived posts. While the Calais tagging results are never going to be 100% on target, this is a great tool for improving the searchability of your historical posts in minutes.

The easiest way to use SemantalyzR is to add our bookmarklet to the bookmarks toolbar of your browser. Then, whenever you are at a page on the web you'd like to analyze, just click the SemantalyzR bookmark and it will take you to an analysis page for that page.

This Alfresco server extension leverages the Open Calais service to automatically extract semantic metadata from documents stored in Alfresco, has a semantic auto-tagging action service, tag suggest api, enables use of semantic metadata in search. Tags include linked data URIs, and provide geo-location info if available from Calais. Extracted RDF and/or JSON can be optionally associated with documents. Provides a REST api. Also adds an auto-tagging action to the Alfresco web client. The service is implemented in Java (and REST api webs scripts in server side JavaScript). Developed by Alexander Polev (One Point Consulting Limited) and Steve Reiner (Integrated Semantics). Also see FlexSpaces RIA clients for Alfresco (from Integrated Semantics), in the Calais gallery.

This Python module is a wrapper around the OpenCalais API. It makes REST calls to the OpenCalais API via HTTP POST, then parses and simplifies the JSON responses returned by OpenCalais. You can then access the response data in a much more pythonic manner.

Tested with Python 2.5.
