Hello,
I'd like to use Calais for building up my own ontology. Therefore I have two questions:

  1. Is Calais able to handle more languages than english (I would need german)?
  2. This question strongly depends on the first one. Can I influence Calais by providing an ontology of my own? The scenario is, I have an ontology and I would like to annotate text to connect it with my ontology (create instances). For example if the word "Berlin" occurs, I want to be able to say that it is of the type "Stadt" (the german word for "city"). So I am sure that Calais knows Berlin, but is it possible to i.e. provide a mapping in way that Calais suggests to me to annotate "Berlin" as a "Stadt"?

Many thanks in advance and best regards!

Hello Scitrx -

Calais processes English, French and Spanish. The English module is more fully developed; French and Spanish identify some basic Entities. Currently, additional languages are not on the planning board.

Calais does not have a mechanism by which users can apply their own ontologies.

Sorry to disappoint.

Thanks for your quick response anyways!

But I've got one more question. Do you know any projects similar to opencalais but for german?
