This guide naturally covers only the tip of the iceberg. You can leverage the capabilities of Calais and Popfly in many more creative ways. The examples above used Microsoft-developed blocks only (in addition to CPB), but you can add user-contributed blocks to your mashups as well.

The Calais Popfly Block code is out there for you to rip and modify. You can create your own blocks that gather input from other sources, and use Calais metadata in different ways. The JavaScript code is a good example of how to invoke the OpenCalais Web service from within a Popfly block, and how to parse the Simple Format XML in JavaScript.
