Welcome Oracle Database 11g Release 2 Users!
Thank you for your interest in OpenCalais, the world's leading high-performance semantic metadata extraction service. OpenCalais uses robust natural language processing technology to "read" content, extracting the 'who, what, when, where and how' from text.
Breaking content down into its basic elements dramatically improves search and navigation, and makes the integration and interoperability of content possible across diverse platforms, including content management systems, databases and information services of all kinds.
Our integration with Oracle Database 11g Release 2 Semantic Technologies (the industry's first open, scalable, secure and reliable RDF management platform) enables you to directly tap the power of OpenCalais to incorporate rich semantic metadata into your production workflow environments.
Here's how to get started:
- Read OpenCalais for developers and visit the about section to learn how OpenCalais works.
- Register on the OpenCalais site to create your account.
- Read our Terms of Service, and click "I agree to the Terms of Service" to get your API key (it will be emailed to you at the address you provided during registration).
That's it! You're off and running.
Q: Do I have to register for OpenCalais.com and get an API key if I am already a licensed Oracle user?
A: Yes. Your Oracle Database license does not come with a pre-assigned OpenCalais API key. Please follow the steps outlined on the Get Started page.
Q: I have a question about your terms of service. Is there someone I can talk to?
A: Yes - please email us at partners (at) opencalais (dot) com.
Q: My company requires a license and/or a service level agreement for any software we use. Is that possible with OpenCalais?
Q: I want to process a lot - and I mean a LOT - of content through OpenCalais. Is there a way to work around your 50,000 document per day limit and/or submission rate limits?
A: Yes, additional processing capacity is available through our commercial options should your needs exceed our limits. Please read the commercial FAQs and then email us at partners (at) opencalais (dot) com.
Q: I want to process sensitive, proprietary and/or confidential internal documents and do not want to share the metadata related thereto with Thomson Reuters. Is there a way to get a private, internal version of OpenCalais for my company's use?
A: Yes. Please read the commercial FAQs and then email us at partners (at) opencalais (dot) com.
Q: Where are the other FAQs?
