GIST is pretty cool!

Created by Thomson Reuters Developer Todd Faulls, GIST leverages Reuters news and provides a highly visual take on Reuters news, combining related stories, images and video clips to quickly provide readers with a 360-degree view of context.

GIST employs Spotlight, an open developer community that provides non-commercial developers with the tools to bring Reuters news, pictures and video content into their websites, widgets, applications and services. Spotlight provides access to Reuters multimedia articles, pictures, videos, text news and semantic markup via a set of XML-based API services. It also offers community tools, resources and forums, including the Spotlight Gallery, which is now showcasing interesting applications by early adopters.

GIST leverages the Spotlight integration with the Calais Web Service to prioritize top stories, rank newsmakers, and reveal trends, helping readers to more quickly distill meaning, grasp relevance and gain insight.
